Faculty Spotlight, Winter Courses: Dr. Joshua Lynn, American History Through Horror
Winter Course: HIS 300A US History through Horror Film
What feature would you like to highlight about this particular class?
We will watch a variety of famous and obscure horror films all semester as a way to learn about the American past. In addition, we will learn about past generations of Americans by studying what they were afraid of. There is no better way to study the past than through its monsters!
Why would you recommend that students take this winter session course?
Anyone who likes US history, film, or horror will learn to appreciate all three in new ways. We will treat horror films with the respect they deserve but don’t always get. You will never watch horror films the same way again!
What is your favorite seasonal activity to participate in during the winter break?
Watching horror films.
